I learned a while ago, that the best way to go is without any expectation. And if you must expect, then aim low, for any result higher than the low will be a pleasant surprise. I learned this lesson after years of putting on “great expectations” in others, in things to come, and in myself. And really, the only one I have control over is the latter, so by all means I continue to aim high for self. However, after many let downs in the former, the “No Expectations” card has come in handy, and you bet I’ve kept it in my backpocket ever since I came across the handy lil thing. It saves time and a lot of energy and is just all-around great to have at all times.
I am antsy as ever to pack my bags to hit the rice patties at this point, but I know there is an in-between time that I gotta fill up. So, I need not be interrogated by my peers with what I will do with my “free time.” And I especially need not be inquired by my peers of what is next thereafter rice patties. Let me roll in the rice fields first! Truth is, I don’t exactly know and I’d rather keep it that way. For if I were to have everything all outlined for anticipation, then there leaves nothing to be be caught off guard with/excited for/look forward to, nor learn from. Call me crazy, but that’s just me “livin’ a lil.” Everyone needs a little jolt every now and then. Here’s my time for a fix. Sooo I say, “Welcome, Unknown World!”
Ironically, those who inquire are mostly those who report to square spaces on the daily. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate the concern, but I guess that’s where my triangle peg doesn’t fit their open cubes. I’ll go my merry way to find an open triangle slot and if not… ahhhhhh well, wasn’t expecting to find one anyway!
. . don’t burn the day. .
